1990 - Mt. Cheam, Squamish Chief, the Spearheads,

Early morning in the Rockies.

Mt. Cheam with Lynn and Eric - East end of the Fraser Valley

Lynn and Eric

We took Eric to the top of Mt. Cheam again. It's a fantastic viewpoint of the Fraser Valley as long as you can drive most of the way up Chipmunk Creek.
While we were on the summit, a paraglider pilot jumped off the north face and sailed away towards the Fraser River. That must have been some rush getting airborn and going over the edge!
Eric would have been almost eight years old in this picture. It was his third trip to the top.

The Squamish Chief
Location of the Chief

Eric, Justin, Bradley
I was able to talk Eric into going on a hike with Chris Cooper and his boys. We went up the back side of the Chief in Squamish. Boy, how they have changed. :-)

Spearhead - Blackcomb - Decker - Trorey

Alan Gill, Ken Willis, Randy Wheating

I forget what precipitated it, but we found ourselves doing some exploring in the Blackcomb - Spearhead area again. We didn't plan to do the traverse, but we hoped to learn more about the area and hopefully do the traverse eventually. Mainly it was good to be out with good people and doing fun stuff.
What follows is a slightly edited version from Randy's journal..

Keith with Mt. Tremor behind him.

"August 5-7, 1990 Keith, Ken, Randy and Alan Gill rode the "Wizard" chairlift the vertical mile form Blackcomb village to the top of 7th Heaven. Very pleasant ride. Great weather. Casual scramble and snow walk to our camp site east of Blackcombe - Spearhead col. All travel up glacier towards Mt. Decker then Keith and Ken climbed Mt. Trory while Al and Randy climbed Decker.

Ken with Overlord behind him.

Decker was an easy, plateau type summit. Back to camp late. Keith and Ken left next day while Al and I climbed (walked really) Blackcomb and Spearhead via small snow gully. Day three Al and Randy back to chairlift around 1:00 pm."
