Chris Cooper, Simon Cooper, Ken Williams, Alan Lizee, and myself did a spring ski into the hut. I had always accessed the mountains in this area via the Joffre Lakes, so it was enjoyable going to a new area. We did some skiing on the local slopes and went away thinking we should go back.
The hut is at the head of Cerise Creek, reached via the Duffey Lake Road. It has become a very popular spot during the winter, as it's not that far from the road as most huts go, and provides both protected tree skiing, and glacier skiing on the Anniversay Glacier. It is at the base of both Joffre and Matier Mountains. Quite a spot.
The hut was built in memory of Keith Flavelle who died on Mt. Logan.

We used the Joffre Lakes approach and went up the glacier on the right side.

That's the gulley we went up and the skyline ridge.

We headed up the gully (photo above) and started to make our way up the ridge. Rock fall almost knocking me off the ridge helped to sap our motivation and when we got to the big gap in the ridge, our motivation vanished. We had lunch, looked around, and headed back foiled.
